In the areas of interior design and lifestyle, Athena Calderone has become a household name. Her influence extends far beyond social media, enthralling fans with her impeccable taste and innovative approach to home decor. Two years ago, Calderone made waves with her inaugural home collection for Crate & Barrel, marrying her knack of business acumen with domestic elegance.

Now, the creative has returned with a fresh Crate & Barrel collaboration that builds upon her previous success. This new collection, as described by Calderone herself, embodies a more “timeless and restrained” aesthetic. It represents an evolution of her design philosophy, offering pieces that are both sophisticated and enduring.

“The success of the first collection and the desire to create again together with Athena and her vision led us to this second chapter of our partnership,” said Sebastian Brauer, Senior Vice President of Product Design at Crate & Barrel. “We leaned on the craftsmanship of our artisans around the world to design a timeless collection of classics, built with quality and materials to last a lifetime.”

What Inspired the Athena Calderone x Crate & Barrel New Collection?

Calderone’s new collection with Crate & Barrel draws inspiration from a variety of sources, with her recently purchased Tribeca home playing a central role. The aesthetic of 1930s Art Deco and European design, which she’s incorporating into her ongoing home renovations, heavily influences the collection. Particularly impactful are the works of the Viennese Secessionists and French designer Jean-Michel Frank, whose influences are evident in the collection’s prominent use of linear geometry, pyramid shapes, and triangular forms.

The collaboration breathes new life into the most-loved designs from the inaugural release, elevating them with bold color choices and innovative forms. The wildly popular Zenith Lounge has undergone a dramatic transformation, emerging as an dining chair. Crate & Barrel has also supersized the Panorama Perch, creating the Panorama Grande—a statement piece now available in a delicious, deep mushroom hue that commands attention in any room.

The Athena Calderone for Crate & Barrel Collaboration is now available via the brand’s website.
