Cherry toned cabinets have been around for years. They’ve been a staple in homes for centuries and will be for more years to come. If the cherry cabinets are feeling dull and boring, there are several steps you can take to modernize your cherry cabinets.

By switching out old appliances, backsplashes and changing the color tones, you can upgrade the look of the cabinets. Pastes, neutrals and light colors are the perfect color tones combined with cherry cabinets to create balance and naturally brighten the kitchen area.  Whether your aesthetic is traditional, country-homestyle or sophisticated, you can do it with cherry tone cabinets. They provide a warm and rich tone to your kitchen without overdoing it.

Why Are Cherry Cabinets Still in Style?

Cherry tone furniture remains popular because of the variations it provides. It merges well with different textures, accents and tones to transform your space from a classic look to a more contemporary style. The wood comes from the American Black Cherry Fruit tree, and many love to use this wood because of the longevity and abundant finishes. You can go with a dark or light finish or a natural or glazed finish. It all depends on your personal style and how you’d like your kitchen to look. No matter the decision, it’s a win when you choose cherry wood.

Here are some changes you can make to your kitchen that will allow the cherry cabinets to shine.

Add Calming Color Tones

When choosing which colors go best with cherry cabinets, remember to give balance. Being that cabinets take up a bulk of the kitchen, it’s important to choose colors that lift the darkness and lighten your space. You can implement these colors in several places like your countertops, backsplash, decor, flowers and more. The key is to get creative and use your imagination.

Pastels, Beiges and Whites

Using color tones, like pastels, beiges and whites balance out your kitchen, especially if it’s small. These colors give your space an open and airy feel.

Grays, Blues and Greens

Neutral colors, like blues, greens and grays add contrast to the cherry cabinets. Don’t stray away from these tones because they do make a difference. You can apply these colors in the flooring and backsplash.

Renovate and Retouch

Renovating your home doesn’t always have to be expensive. There are a few things you can do yourself at low cost. If you’re interested in taking things up a notch in your kitchen, backsplashes, countertops and new appliances make a huge difference.  Modifying the simplest things in the kitchen makes it feel and look like it’s up to date.

DIY Backsplash

Most rarely pay attention to backsplash, but it can create great impact when it comes to adding different styles, patterns and accents to your kitchen. When choosing the perfect backsplash, consider the color, pattern and size of your kitchen. Grab extra tile for cuts where you may need to customize them to fit the crease and corners of your kitchen. You’ll also need to grab a craft knife and scissors, if you don’t already have them.

@mumz_watt Peel and stick, I really didnt feel like breaking down the ugly old backsplash so it’ll be this for now. #amazonfinds #peelandstick #kitchenhacks #backsplash #tiles #makeover #kitchenmakeover #minorchanges #bigdifference #apartmentdecor #apartmenttherapy #renterfriendly #ideas ♬ original sound – MumzWatt

Thoroughly clean the area before sticking down the tile. Be sure to press firmly after sticking for a few seconds. Repeat the process until you’ve covered all areas. It’s super easy and budget friendly. It can be done at any level of expertise and still look professional.

If you’d rather take another route with the backsplash, you can also paint a solid color.

Consider your countertops before choosing your colors and tones to save time. These play a big role in what color you choose to ensure everything flows well and gives off the same message. White and granite countertops look great and add a timeless, but current theme in the kitchen space.

Appliances

Appliances catch the eye of those who enter your kitchen. They’re normally what you look for when apartment hunting or when it’s time for an upgrade. It makes a statement and can set the tone of an older style kitchen or newer kitchen. Sometimes updating your kitchen appliances can make your 10-year-old cherry cabinets feel brand new. It makes a huge difference when paired with cherry cabinets.
