There’s a reason the Michelin-starred restaurant Eleven Madison Park has stayed on my dream dining list for years. The food, of course, is incredible, but it’s the entire atmosphere that draws me in. It’s the kind of space that feels thoughtful from the first course to the last detail on the table. When I saw that Crate & Barrel partnered with Chef Daniel Humm, the celebrated chef behind Eleven Madison Park, on a tableware collection, I was instantly intrigued. I might not have a reservation at the restaurant (yet), but this feels like a way to bring a little of that experience into my own home.

There’s a certain balance in Chef Humm’s food. It’s exacting in technique but still warm and inviting. Think beautifully composed plates that somehow don’t feel too precious to eat. That same energy is all over the collection. It’s minimalist but not cold, refined but approachable. You can tell that every piece was designed by someone who pays attention to the material and how it feels and looks in your home.

One of the pieces I keep coming back to is the Verbier dining chair in that deep kombu green. Designed by Humm himself, it’s giving midcentury minimalism but with a modern edge. The green lacquer finish is just glossy enough to catch the light, and the boucle cushions are the kind you want to linger in long after dinner ends. It’s functional, sculptural, and cozy all at once.

“With this collection, I am inviting you into my home,” Humm said in a press release. “The pieces reflect the same philosophy I bring to the kitchen every day: simplicity, intention, and a deep respect for craft.” And you can feel that. Nothing in the line feels trendy or overly styled.

Crate & Barrel’s SVP of Product Design, Sebastian Brauer, called the collection a reimagining of the beauty and ritual of home cooking. I couldn’t agree more. The pieces in this collection remind you that the act of cooking, plating, pouring, and setting a table can be just as fulfilling as the meal itself.

While I’m still holding out hope for a future trip to Eleven Madison Park, this collaboration makes the dream feel a little closer.
