New Home, Who This: How To Elevate Any Space Using The Right Home Decor with Wayfair

No matter how perfect your dream house or apartment is when you finally find it, it doesn’t become a home until you begin to infuse it with the things that make you you. And a lot of times, you may not realize how much your home decor style has changed until it’s time for you to make a new home.

In other words: what better time to shop for new furnishings than when you’re moving into your new spot? And who better to help you discover your new favorite pieces than designers who share the same cultural influences that have informed your tastes over the years?

Wayfair–a company which has already married our love of fly interior design, our appreciation for being able to get everything we need without leaving the house AND our need to be fiscally responsible–has recently been partnering with Black Makers. And through their spotlights of these brands, we discovered (more than) a few pieces for our decor vision boards.

As a bonus, just like the pieces we’re highlighting below, it seems like everything from Mitchell Black, Sukie’s Candle Co., and Egypt Sherrod’s Indigo Road, coordinate perfectly. Which means you could literally find everything you need in one place.

Trapezium Plank Wood Console Table (by Indigo Road by Egypt Sherrod)
With this collection, created in partnership with East At Main, HGTV star and designer Egypt Sherrod has made it easy to bring global inspiration into your home. The line is full of pieces like this Trapezium Plank Wood Console Table, that are elegant and imposing enough for you to build an entire room around them, yet simple enough to allow you to be as creative or minimalistic as you want. Complement the sustainable mango wood with vivid colors; or stick with earth tones and metals. The design itself is classic enough to fit any aesthetic; yet the trapezoid-shaped legs give it just enough of a modern edge for you to build an entire afro-futuristic world around.

Mrs Paranjape Papers Geometric Roll (by Mitchell Black)
Speaking of metals and afrofuturism, Mitchell Black offers a range of wallpaper options that manage to capture the essence of sci-fi, but with a certain softness that still makes them warm. The Mrs Paranjape design is just one of the many that gives metal, space travel chic; and the colorway makes it equally inviting. Pair it with other designs like the Abra Geometric Roll, and carry that same energy into other rooms of your house while still giving each its own vibe.

Kali Geometric Roll (by Mitchell Black)
We’re sure that when the good folks at Mitchell Black decided to offer certain designs in multiple colors, they did it to make coordinating your walls with the rest of your decor that much easier. But, let’s make it a little spicier: imagine having the exact same pattern recurring throughout your house, but keeping it cute and creative by mixing and matching various colorways! Bonus points if you use size, placement and design orientation to show that pattern off in different ways in each room.

Alto Textured Metal Coffee Table (by Indigo Road by Egypt Sherrod)
Another Indigo Road design principle we love is the way in which they repurpose familiar shapes, textures and architectural details into items we might not have thought of. Between the material, the ridged texture and the silhouette, this coffee table is THAT GIRL. Not only will it tie a room together, but it becomes an instant talking point when people enter the room.

Nag Champa Scented Travel Size Candle (by Sukie’s Candle Co.)
Aromatherapy is one of our favorite forms of self-care. And these travel-sized versions of Sukie’s Candle not only allow you to bring that little touch of indulgence with you, they lowkey have a built in dual functionality. Just look at them! The gold and black design and minimalistic labels allow you to incorporate scent into the actual decor of your home. And with additional scent options including Red Ginger Saffron, Golden Rose and Blood Orange, these candles allow you to take in any room’s vibe– from nostalgic, to classic, to exotic–with not only your eyes, but your sense of smell as well.

We honestly found so much inspiration browsing through Wayfair’s Black Makers spotlight, that we could continue sharing products and ideas forever. Click here to get into Indigo Road by Egypt Sherrod, Mitchell Black, Sukie’s Candle Co. and the other featured brands and designers.
