Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Officially Say Goodbye To Frogmore Cottage

One thing is for sure: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle no longer have a home in England. Merely four months ago, the couple was asked to leave Frogmore Cottage, their UK home. It has now been confirmed that they have officially vacated the property.

In a press briefing last week, the status of Frogmore Cottage was discussed after the release of the annual Sovereign Grant, which details the royal family’s spending for the year. “We can confirm that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have vacated Frogmore Cottage,” said Keeper of the Privy Purse Michael Stevens in the press briefing.

Stevens also revealed that about $3 million in funds from the Sovereign Grant were used to renovate Frogmore Cottage before the couple moved there in 2019 shortly before the birth of their son Archie. The home was a wedding present, gifted to Harry and Meghan earlier that year by the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The couple was asked to pay back the money used to renovate the home after they decided to step down from their royal duties.

“Safe to say that, as has previously been stated, the duke and duchess have paid for the expenditure incurred by the Sovereign Grant in relation to the renovation of Frogmore Cottage, thus leaving the Crown with a greatly enhanced asset,” said Stevens during the press briefing.

It has not been confirmed who will live in the newly renovated home despite rumors of Prince Andrew, the younger brother of King Charles III, wanting to move in.

“Any future occupancy will be determined and communicated in the next year’s report,” said a palace official, according to Independent.
