There’s something captivating about staying at a place that embodies both the charm of its location and the excitement of modern design. That’s exactly what I found during my stay at The Kimpton Brice Hotel. Traveling with my husband and 8-month-old son, I wasn’t just looking for a comfortable place to rest—I was seeking an experience that would elevate our time in Savannah. The Brice more than delivered, with thoughtful design touches that made the trip unforgettable.

The Kimpton Brice recently wrapped up a major renovation in March 2023, breathing new life into the property while honoring its rich history. Originally built in the 1860s, the building has worn many hats—from a Coca-Cola bottling plant to a cotton warehouse. Today, it blends its storied past with a fresh, modern aesthetic that feels perfectly at home in Savannah.

Guest Rooms with Classic Elegance and Modern Comfort

The guest rooms are a perfect mix of classic and contemporary. Light wood-look floors and renovated bathrooms—complete with black-and-white subway tiles and sleek glass showers—add a polished touch. The color palette of soft grays and whites, accented by deep greens and vibrant fuchsia, takes cues from Savannah’s famous gardens. Artwork by local and national artists adds personality and warmth.

 

One of the standout features of our suite was the living area, which had a striking piece of geometric artwork mounted above the plush gray couch. The vibrant, bold colors added an energetic and modern touch to the space, creating a focal point that felt like a gallery piece.

Additionally, our room featured two full-sized mirrors, which not only made the suite feel larger but also brought a practical and thoughtful design element to the space. During our stay, we loved sinking into the King-sized bed with crisp sheets—the kind of details that make you feel truly pampered.

Southern Charm Redefined in the Lobby

Walking into the lobby feels like stepping into an elegant yet inviting Southern living room. The redesigned layout makes it more open and functional, with cozy seating areas that encourage you to linger. Playful design elements, like fringe-trimmed chairs and an iron screen inspired by Savannah’s historic gates, give the space character. One of my favorite features was the thoughtfully curated bookshelf, a nod to the city’s literary legacy.

Whimsy and Relaxation in Outdoor Spaces

The Secret Garden and pool area are where the hotel truly shines. The garden’s lemon-yellow accents and eclectic lounge seating make it feel like a hidden oasis, perfect for sipping a nightcap by the firepit. Meanwhile, the pool’s bold tangerine tones add a fun, energetic vibe. Both spaces manage to be family-friendly and effortlessly stylish—a rare combination.

Throughout the Kimpton Brice, the design strikes the perfect balance between old and new, playful and polished. It’s a place where Savannah’s history is honored but never feels stuffy. My family and I left feeling inspired—and already dreaming of our next visit.
