Whether you live in an apartment or a house, lack of closet space can be an issue. To be fair, your bedroom may have a designated space for clothes, but for fashion enthusiasts, it’s never big enough. Between coats, shoes, accessories, and actual clothing garments, a walk-in closet would be more ideal. Fortunately, there are creative solutions to building your dream space without renovating, such as upgrading an extra bedroom.

Creating a stunning closet transformation is easier than you may think and takes more planning than physical labor. With an extra room, you can quickly build the walk-in closet of your dreams and increase your storage space in one fell swoop. That’s exactly what creator and lifestyle blogger Natalie, known by @nazjaa on her social accounts, did in her home. After realizing her traditional closet wasn’t large enough, she decided to completely transform an extra bedroom into an amazing dressing room.

How She Did It

Building a closet might seem laborious, but it doesn’t have to be. There are lots of storage and closet solutions that take the guesswork out of designing and require little assembly. The key is to create a plan supported by measurements. Before you decide on which wardrobes to buy, you want to make sure each piece fits. Measuring the floor space and height of the walls will give you an idea of the kind of closet you can create.

Once you’ve got the bones of your closet mapped out, it’s time to build out the details. Natalie opted for a customized solution with shelving for her shoes and purses, double clothing bars for shorter jackets, and drawers for smaller accessories. The final step is tying everything together with welcoming decor. A low pile rug in a neutral color and a comfy accent chair give the room a cozy and warm feel. If you have extra space, you can also try adding a vanity and chic accent chair to enhance the dressing room feel.
