At the rate Usher Raymond IV is going, he is as much the face of Las Vegas as Elvis Presley. And after the Super Bowl LVIII earlier this year, the “Boyfriend” singer put a stamp on this comparison himself. Shortly after his February 11 performance, he got married to his longtime girlfriend Jennifer Goicoechea. The nuptials during his third wedding included longtime Elvis impersonator the Rev. Ronald Pokrywka.
Although he and his now-wife got married in Las Vegas, their marriage license said the couple’s mailing address was in Encino, California and other homes were in Las Vegas and Atlanta. That left fans wondering, “Where does Usher live? Is Usher’s new home in Nevada?”
Usher’s Move from Texas To Tennessee, Georgia, California and Now Las Vegas
Although he’s most popularly associated with Atlanta, Usher was born in Dallas, Texas and spent his early childhood in Chattanooga, Tennessee. As his fame continued to rise, he moved to New York City for about a year before working under the guidance of Jermaine Dupri in Atlanta around 1997. The “My Way” singer secured a handful of episodes on Moesha and was featured in the 1998 film The Faculty.
Since then, he’s sold three of his homes from 2018 to 2020, which were located in Alpharetta (the former home of L.A. Reid), Atlanta and a Spanish-style home in Hollywood.
(Unfortunately, the latter home near Sunset Strip was burglarized of $820K worth of jewelry and cash before he could sell it. The original price for the California home was $4.2 million but was sold for the same price he bought it for: $3.3 million.)
That hasn’t put much of a dent at all in the crooner’s income though. He raked in $18.8 million during his first residency in 2021 and $95.9 million for the second residency that started in 2022.
But has his residencies made him a permanent Las Vegas resident? For the time being, it apparently has, especially with four kids: Usher “Cinco” V and Naviyd Ely with his ex-wife, Tameka Foster, as well as daughter Sovereign Bo (who turned 4 years old this week) and son Sire Castrello with his wife Goicoechea.
“Being able to be here in Las Vegas has given me that opportunity to find more balance,” Usher told TODAY. “I’ve got kids that are going to school, babies that are learning how to swim, and I want to spend that time.”
And while he’s currently on his “Past, Present, Future” tour, which is full of sold-out concerts months before they happen, he’ll be right back to perform in Las Vegas again in mid-November.
