Hoda Kotb has been brightening our days as a part of The Today Show since 2008, and her life has undergone some major changes in that time. Back then, she was recently divorced from Burzis Kanga after three years of marriage. However, it wouldn’t be long before her next partner, Joel Schiffman entered the picture. The pair (who have since gone their separate ways) co-parent two young daughters, Hope and Haley while maintaining a friendship. Kotb addressed the situation on Today in 2022, explaining, “Joel and I have had a lot of prayerful and meaningful conversations over the holidays, and we decided that we are better as friends and parents than we are as an engaged couple.”
“We decided we are going to start this new year on our new path as loving parents to our adorably delightful children and as friends. It’s not like something happened,” Kotb added. They say sometimes relationships are meant to be there for a reason, a season or a lifetime. This was for a season.” Now, two years after joining the single club again, the TV personality is excited to be moving into a new home with her girls. Where does Hoda Kotb live these days? Keep reading to find out!
Where Does Hoda Live?
Thanks to her lucrative career in media, Kotb is fortunate to have two New York-area properties to call home. For years, she’s been cozy in her Upper Manhattan apartment, and when adventure calls, the Hope Is a Rainbow author is more than happy to head off to her four-bedroom waterfront property in Long Island with Hope and Haley.
“The beach is our happy place,” she told People in 2022. “They’re into bubbles and swimming. They’re into sand crabs and snails. They scoop them up and put them in buckets. They’re into ice cream, sprinkles – all the summer things.”
She Raised Her Daughters in New York and Long Island
Upon returning from the 2024 Paris Olympics, Kotb confirmed her plans to get rid of her NYC apartment – an obviously emotional decision. “I literally was sitting at my desk this morning, where I sit every single morning – I light a candle, I have my journal, I do my stuff. And I thought to myself, this is the last Monday I’ll be sitting at this desk because we’re moving next week,” the mother of two reflected in June.
“I was thinking about it. Both Haley and Hope came home there and I remember them trying to crawl up the stairs… I mean, it’s like you want to hold onto things and you want to let go. I can’t believe I have a 7 and 5-year-old, and I can’t believe all those memories… There were so many things that we have built there.”
Now, Hoda Kotb and Her Family Are Starting Fresh in a New Home
In March 2024, Hoda Kotb first broke the news about her moving plans on her Making Space podcast. As a young girl, she spent time living in Africa, which helped her figure out how to help her daughters through this transition. “I remember once my parents moved us to Nigeria, I was in fourth grade, I was horrified. Like, we get to this place, the language was different, everybody seemed different and it was hard. I moved again in sixth grade,” the entertainer explained.
More recently, Kotb spoke to People about being in a “repotting phase” following her 60th birthday. “It’s like my roots need a bigger pot. You know when you take a plant out of a pot, and it’s roots are all twisted and tight? And then you put it in a bigger pot with fresh soil and it just grows bigger and stronger? That’s the journey I’m on right now. And it’s going to hurt a little, to leave that pot that was comfortable for so long. But in the end, it’s going to be exactly what we need,” she shared. Congratulations, Hoda!
