You may know and love IKEA for chic and affordable home decor, but the Swedish brand has something up its sleeve for 2024. IKEA is set to revolutionize home fitness with the launch of its first-ever workout collection, DAJLIEN, in January. The launch comes at a perfect time when homeowners are getting their home gyms ready to help them achieve their New Year resolutions.

Named after the word “daily” in the Småland accent, an homage to IKEA’s roots, the DAJLIEN collection embodies the philosophy of integrating movement into everyday life. Comprising 19 versatile and aesthetically pleasing pieces, the collection aims to foster healthy habits and make exercising at home an accessible daily activity for everyone. This initiative emerged from IKEA recognizing the common hurdles faced in home workouts, such as lack of space, time, and discomfort. Research conducted in cities like New York, Chicago, London, and Shanghai provided insights into these challenges, which shaped the design of the DAJLIEN collection.

Stylish Home Decor Items

DAJLIEN stands out for its multi-functionality and adaptability, doubling as stylish home decor items. For example, the DAJLIEN bench, inspired by vintage gym equipment, functions as both a workout bench and a chic coffee table. Its non-slip mat is great for various bodyweight exercises while also serving as a practical storage solution. This innovative approach is a focal point of the entire collection, which includes exercise mats, step-up boards, and unique ring-shaped dumbbells, all designed for easy use and storage.

In addition to traditional fitness gear, DAJLIEN extends to recovery and stress-relief products like air purifiers, yoga straps, kneepads, massage balls, and a portable Bluetooth speaker—all in calming colors. The collection also offers comfortable post-workout wear, including slippers and two ponchos.

Designer Sarah Fager shares in a press release, “Not everyone feels safe or comfortable going to a gym, and at home, we often deal with small space and time constraints. DAJLIEN was born from the desire to find smart solutions that address these limitations and help people create a convenient and motivating place for exercise.”

“We wanted to create smart, beautiful products to inspire and redefine training as a fun, easy, and natural everyday activity,” she continues.

The collection launches in January 2024 and will be available for six months or until items are sold out.
