Home renovations are the perfect way to transform your space and breathe new life into your abode. From the cozy corners of our living rooms to the functional spaces of our kitchens and bathrooms, each renovation project promises rejuvenation and new beginnings. It’s not just about aesthetics; it’s about molding our living spaces to reflect our personal tastes, needs, and lifestyles.
With a growing interest in home transformations, a recent study by photo wall tiles company Storyboards shines a light on America’s most coveted home renovation projects. The study uncovers the parts of the house Americans are most eager to revamp by researching the number of monthly Google searches related to home renovations.
Living Room Takes the Top Spot
The results show that the living room is not just a common area in the home but also a common focus for home improvement. In fact, in 19 states, a living room renovation is the most popular renovation project. The state with the most searches related to living room renovations is Louisiana, with 312 monthly searches per 100,000 residents. Other states with high search volumes include New York, Texas, New Jersey, and Massachusetts.
Bathrooms Are a Close Second
Homeowners are keen to renovate more than their living rooms. The study found that the second most popular home renovation project is a bathroom makeover, with 620,253 monthly searches. Connecticut takes the lead in this category, with 262 monthly searches per 100,000 residents. Other states with high interest in bathroom renovations include New Jersey, Florida, Maryland, and Delaware.
Kitchens Come Third
Kitchen makeovers come in third place, with 411,130 monthly searches. Once again, Connecticut tops the list with the most searches per 100,000 residents, followed by New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania. It’s clear that the kitchen, known as the heart of the home, is an essential area for many homeowners looking to update their space.
Bedrooms Matter Too
Bedroom renovations are fourth on the list, with 323,297 monthly searches. New York has the most interest in this category, followed by Massachusetts, Georgia, Maryland, and New Jersey.
Other areas of the home that people are interested in renovating include the backyard, basement, attic, and even home extensions. Nevada is most interested in backyard renovations, while Illinois takes the lead for basement makeovers. Vermont has the most searches for attic renovations, and Hawaii tops the list for home extensions.
Gavin Glick, co-founder of Storyboards, commented, “There are a number of reasons that people may want to renovate their homes, whether that be to increase its value, or to simply make it more comfortable and enjoyable to live in. And with home renovation and interior design trends constantly changing, it’s understandable that people want to refresh and upgrade their homes to make the most use out of their existing space.”
