How To Make Your Home Feel Like a “Warm Blanket” Like Interior Designer Laquita Tate
Interior designer Laquita Tate’s home is a masterclass in how to curate a space that feels like being wrapped in a cozy, warm blanket. The designer walked us through her Memphis abode in episode four of Home & Texture’s House Tours, and we left feeling inspired by the details, textures, and color palette in her home.
“I wanted my home to feel like it was a warm blanket when you first walk through the door,” Tate tells Home & Texture. Her home is a true culmination of her and her husband’s personalities. Her use of layering art and books by Black artists and creatives, in addition to a rich use of textures, are a warm welcome into Laquita’s world.

Warm Color Palette
Design your space with a warm color palette of soft neutrals, deep oranges, browns, and soothing shades of blue and green. Choose furniture and accessories in earthy and warm colors for your space to create a comforting ambiance.

Tate loves layering textures, and with good reason. They add depth and warmth to a space. Add plush rugs, cozy blankets, and fluffy pillows to your spaces to comfort yourself and your guests. Materials like faux fur, chunky knits, and wool are great for creating an ultra-cozy and luxe atmosphere.
